In late July 1 st Harston Scouts held their annual Summer Camp at Eaton Vale, Norwich. Kayaking was the main activity with most members, all of whom were novices, gaining their initial British Canoeing 1 Star Award. Several leaders gained excellent hands on practise and training in group management under the watchful eyes of the highly qualified instructors at Eaton Vale. All this was in preparation for the Group getting its own fleet of canoes back on the water in Spring 2018 and the leaders working towards their Adventurous Activity Permits. There was also plenty of opportunity for some fine camp cooking, orienteering, axe throwing and other traditional Scouting activities.

The Scouts attended the bridge building event at the Cambridge University Engineering Department on the 27th January 2016. It was good to see so many parents there, thank you most sincerely for all your contributions and support. I'm sure everyone would agree that it was a successful evening and join me in thanking Maria Kettle for arranging to host us. Anyway, as they say, never under estimate the power of a tin of beans.
