On the last troop night of spring term 2013 the Scouts were divided into three groups and set about moving around three bases. The bases were (i) Pioneering run by Ben, (ii) Kim’s game run by James and (iii) Map reading run by Tim. Whilst the Scouts moved around the bases Charly called groups of 2 or 3 out to one side to make pancakes. This was a great evening and a nice end to the term. Thanks to all the leaders for organising a great evening.
During one of their Troop evenings the Scouts were given a load of old clothes and materials that could have come form a plane crash. They had to build an overnight shelter and then a make shift stretcher to carry one of their injured crew to safety. The evening ended with one of the Scouts new games "Jump the gap".
On Saturday 16th March the Scouts tried "Discover Scuba" with the Cambridge Dive Centre at Bottisham School pool. Thank you Akela and Baloo for all your help in organising this great event. Also our thanks go to Mark and all the team from CDC for all their help and advice on the day.
Over the last few Troop evenings the Scouts have been learning about first aid. With the help of Akela and Baloo they were able to past their Stage 1& 2 of the emergency aid staged badge. Well done to all who pasted and thank you Akela and Baloo for your help.
On Wednesday 6th March 2013 the Scouts went to Whaddon Golf Range to try their hand at a bit golf. A good night was had by all and the Scouts ended the night with some chips. Thanks Roger for organising this.
The Scouts built catapults out of bamboo canes and elastic bands. The Scouts then divided in two and had a catapult beanbag battle!
At their Troop night on Wednesday 21st November 2012 the Scouts had to design and make a small plastic Parachute. They were given some old plastic bags and some string. Here are the photos of what they created.
On Wednesday 14th November 2012 our GSL Roger Summerfield arranged a Team Building Obstacle Course evening. Using a few chairs and canes a course was laid out which the Scouts had to traverse. First they went down the course singularly both forwards and backwards. Then with a partner they had to go around the course in a three legged race. The Scouts had various ways of doing the course but all had fun.
On Sunday 11th November, the Cubs and Scouts took part in the Remembrance Sunday ceremony. There was a wreath laying ceremony held at Hauxton church, followed by the laying of a wreath at the Harston war memorial. We then all paraded down to Harston church for a short service.
